Although the number of burglaries in private homes has decreased significantly due to corona in Denmark, there has been a negative development when it comes to the amount of thefts at construction sites.

The number of reported thefts on construction sites has increased by 11.3 % from 2019 to 2020. This has many negative consequences for construction companies, who are left with a slipped schedule, high costs for buying new tools and a lot of wasted time reporting cases and restocking vehicles.

More options for construction companies

Fortunately, there are several ways to minimize the risk of car break-ins. These include installing a GPS tracking device in the tool, using DNA tagging, or using high-quality locks and security devices in the car and signs that the car is equipped with this type of security.

If you only have the time and energy to follow a simple piece of advice, security experts say that DNA marking is probably the best possible solution to get the tool back to the right owner.

Many construction companies participate in the campaign “STOP THEFT”, which focuses on safety, signage and tracking, and more and more construction companies are joining nationwide.
