Realdania By & Byg is affected by fraud and document forgery
Realdania By & Byg has dismissed and reported a former employee to the police on the basis of established forgery and fraud. In a press release, the Building Foundation writes the following: ”We look at the case with deep seriousness and concern. Integrity is a core value for Realdania and for the subsidiary Realdania By & Byg. It is a value we cherish, and the case has therefore been handed over for police investigation,” says Peter Cederfeld, CEO of Realdania By & Byg.
Realdania By & Byg is responsible for the real estate investments
The company is responsible for Realdania's real estate investments and also provides information about the development and operation of properties - and it is precisely in this company that the fraud has taken place. How the document forgery was carried out and how the thorough control systems failed is currently unknown.
Fraud worth around DKK 15 million
Byggefonden Realdania has reported the multi-million fraud case to the police. It has not yet been fully established how large an amount the case concerns. This will be clarified by an audit review and the upcoming police investigation.
Peter Cederfeld says: ”With the major reservation that the review and investigation may show otherwise, our best guess is that the case involves an amount in the region of DKK 15 million. We take this matter very seriously. And although we already have very thorough control systems in place, we are reviewing them carefully to ensure that all systems and control environments are tested and adjusted to avoid something similar in the future.”
Realdania and Realdania By & Byg do not have any further comments on the case at this time due to the police investigation.
Remember internal control
“We encourage all companies to pay extra attention to internal controls. Unfortunately - one is tempted to say. Technological developments and a lack of morals give weak souls the opportunity to deceive in companies large and small. Take action now to raise the level of internal control - and feel free to consult an external security company” says Christian Pejtersen, CEO, yourCompany.
