The trade association Danske Byggecentre, which covers most and the largest timber yards in Denmark, wrote in the September issue of a newsletter about their latest initiative in the fight against fraud. A working group has been set up consisting of members from most timber yards, employees from Danske Byggecentre, including yourCompany ApS, which is contributing with good forces via our outsourcing concept. We are very proud to be a part of this.

The aim is to combine forces and experience and enter into the best possible collaboration against the crime that the timber industry is hit by every year. The industry has an annual turnover of DKK 30 billion and the exact amount of shrinkage is unknown, but all experience shows that it is very good business for timber companies to work purposefully against shrinkage. Calculations show that most timber companies need to turn over between DKK 10,000 and 20,000 every time a loss of DKK 1,000 is discovered before the theft/destruction is offset financially. A staggering figure that would be far better on the timber companies' bottom line.

The good news is that it is relatively easy and with a targeted effort, something serious can be done about this shrinkage.
