At a time when gas cylinder thefts have plagued the construction and timber industry and thefts generally cost millions, locally based chain Davidsens Tømmerhandel has been using a groundbreaking solution for some time. Gas cylinder theft has been a persistent problem across the country, but with the help of specially approved technology (GPS transmitters), Davidsens has managed to turn the tide.

A few years ago, the problem was so bad at the Nørre Nebel branch that selling gas cylinders was no longer profitable. But with the implementation of this new technology, theft has now been completely eradicated at Davidsens Tømmerhandel across the country. According to the trade association, the number of gas cylinder thefts has been reduced by over 70 percent annually nationwide, demonstrating the effectiveness of the technology.

Davidsen's approach, with the help of an external security company, has not only solved a critical problem for their own stores, but has also set a new standard for the entire industry. This initiative demonstrates how innovation and technology can drive significant improvements and secure business operations against financial losses caused by crime.

This success is a powerful example of how targeted solutions can create big change and protect valuable resources at DIY stores and lumberyards. Hopefully, more industries will follow Davidsen's example and implement similar technologies to secure their property against theft. Director Palle Thomsen from Danish Construction Centers, states that several of their members are actually using this solution - and all with good results.
