A carpentry and joinery company from the Danish capital has for the first time experienced getting its tools back after a break-in in a van. Martin Egeskov A/S from Copenhagen was subjected to what many other craft companies also experience - countless break-ins in their vans. This time, electronic tools and hand tools worth approximately DKK 25,000 were stolen. Fortunately, the carpentry and joinery company had DNA-tagged the tools and equipped some of the power tools with GPS in the van in question - and this was the decisive factor in finding the tools and the thieves.
DNA tagging and GPS devices
Martin Egeskov A/S had gotten the DNA tagging and GPS equipment up and running via “The STOP THEFT concept“. The STOP THEFT concept is developed by yourCompany ApS. in collaboration with the Danish Construction Association and the Construction Insurance Service. The goal of the STOP THEFT concept is to create affordable solutions that are easy for construction companies to handle and that can create maximum problems for thieves if they break into vans or containers.
Wasted man hours
The carpentry and joinery company usually experiences break-ins in their vans a couple of times a year - and the hassle that comes with such a break-in is huge. Therefore, the company decided to sign up for the STOP THEFT concept to minimize the many wasted man-hours that come in the wake of a break-in and the resulting lack of tools for employees. In addition to the time it takes to report the break-in, an overview must first be created - which also takes time - and finally, there is a customer who cannot get the desired task done that day. So there are so many good reasons to be part of the STOP THEFT concept.
44% of construction companies have experienced theft
Almost half of all construction companies in Denmark have experienced thefts from vans in the past year. This results in many wasted hours for both the companies and their crews - and it's costing them money. Of course, it costs money to be connected to the STOP THEFT concept, but the money saved on deductibles and wasted man-hours makes it all add up in the end. With the STOP THEFT concept, you prevent instead of cure - prevention is by far the easiest and best way.
