On May 28th yourCompany ApS together with our good friends in @Betfjord Digital Labs held a course on data in cars and car keys. The course was held at @comwell in K\u00f8ge, which provided a great setting for the day. @Patrick Betfjord took us and the course participants through a day where a balance had to be found between some very technical terms and connecting this to the everyday life of insurance companies and us who conduct surveys on behalf of the insurance companies.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n
The course clearly showed how important it is to have car keys scanned early in the process in a way that secures data correctly so that the data readings are valid and of a quality that will stand up in court. Companies may want to consider this when cars are reported stolen or burned and in case of major damage to the cars.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n
For the same reason, yourCompany ApS has created a concept for both small and large insurance companies where it is quick and cheap to have as many keys scanned per year as possible and get an answer within a few days. This way, insurance companies do not have to invest in the solution themselves and have their own internal specialist competencies available. We can do that! We would be happy to tell you more about the concept if you have one or more insurance companies with similar considerations.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n
Participants also got to see two examples of live hacking of cars that were relatively easy to steal without using the right key. Fortunately, not all car brands are equally easy to steal, but how do you stay updated on which makes and models have vulnerabilities? Either way, it's frightening to see how, with relatively few and cheap purchases, you can intercept key signals and cheat the car's technology. This places great demands on car manufacturers to be at the forefront in this area so that people don't suddenly find that their car is gone and it raises big questions about what will happen when the next generations of cars hit the market - more digital and self-driving than ever before. Is this good or bad for the future of car theft protection? Exciting topic.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n
